When you get the Fremont wordpress blog up, drop a link here :-)

Thanks again for contacting me. Hopefully some regional WordPress meetings are organized.

Hi--yeah, those are the ones. Okay, the Fremont group blog is http://aroundfremont.livejournal.com/ --however, it's politics-free. (It's OK to post event announcements, but with comments turned off so the arguing doesn't start.) I know that may seem draconian but it was necessary to keep the community useful. :/ However, I plan to start my own Fremont blog soon, on WordPress, where I can discuss politics and other things.

hi Jenn. Thanks for the comment! I am happy to help out. I found the quote you mention:

Give me your tired, your poor

A line from a poem, “The New Colossus,” by the nineteenth-century American poet Emma Lazarus. “The New Colossus,” describing the Statue of Liberty, appears on a plaque at the base of the statue. It ends with the statue herself speaking:

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.

Jenn, when you pick a date to display your soon-to-be-awesome sign, post an announcement on Indybay.org and hopefully other people will show up in support.

Clarissa, thank you too for the comment! Can you please post a link to the Livejournal for Fremont? Be sure to bookmark Indybay's East Bay page. Which stories on Indybay are shocking to you? Are you talking about these "blurbs":

Anti-Minutemen Demonstrators Attacked in Fremont from July 14th and Routing Out The Fascists in Fremont from July 28th?

Please do use Indybay.org to publish the news!

I live in Fremont and run a little Livejournal community for the area (though politics are verboten). The stories on Indy Bay are really shocking. (I wandered by via the Roll Call from WordCamp.)

Thank you for reporting for Fremont as well. We could use all of the help we can get. Now if I could only get my sewing machine some space I could get my idea going. I wish to hold a sign with the "Give me your poor...." quote as I stand dressed up as the Statue of Liberty.
